Following we have listed some hints and tricks, that will make your work with PosterJet 7 even more comfortable:
When using PosterJet 7 on a PC with the Windows 2003 Server operating system, the "loopback"
address (127.0.0.1) can be blocked by the system. PosterJet 7 needs this address to connect the
Client with the Server. In this case, the external IP-address of the PC can be used instead of
the "localhost" address. The IP-address can be determined by executing the "ipconfig" command in the DOS-prompt.
Save
individual color settings in the PosterJet 7 “Colour” tab (Submission
User Interface) to a file. This file can serve as a color default file
in the “General” tab of the preferences (under “colour default”).
With
such color default settings all jobs can automatically be adjusted to
your personal color workflow settings – other than using the factory
default settings.
Segments of a tiled job can be printed as a nested file. Please just
chose the option “Layout” in the “Printer” tab, when printing a tiled
job.
Hint: use this functionality to create great puzzles (separate an image to small segments and print them as a nested job)!
Print preview of multi-copy layouts
You can submit multiple copies of a single job by increasing the number of
copies in the printer tab of the submission window. In the main queue
you can easily preview the layout of these jobs by selecting the context
menu, then choosing the entry “Nest Editor”. You will get a preview
window with the layout of your multiple jobs.
Use the Job Accounting functionality of PosterJet 7 to review all
job settings of already printed jobs. It is an important control tool, specially when experimenting with different print modes and color
profiles. You will find the Job Accounting under the “View" menu of
the main queue in PosterJet 7. The job accounting can be activated in the Preferences of PosterJet 7. Simply select the entry "Job Accounting" in the "Miscellaneous" tab of the PosterJet 7 preferences.
Hint: The job accounting file is called
“PJAccount.xml” and can be found in the “Accounting” directory of the
PosterJet server. If required, the file can be stored under a different
name or in a different place.
If you move the mouse pointer over one of the rulers in the preview
area of the submission window, and select the context menu by right
clicking, then you can change the ruler units of the preview from inch
to centimeters or vice versa.
You can reset a crop by using the right mouse button in the job
submission preview. Just chose “Select all” to reset all settings.
The splash screen of PosterJet 7 can be closed easily by double clicking on it.
Keyboard shortcuts
Information on PosterJet 7 shortcuts is available in the help system and the “First Steps” booklet.
When using the PosterJet Client on the same PC as the PosterJet Server, files from local drives are uploaded quicker that files from network drives. The desktop, the folder „My Documents“ and all folders that are stored in the „Documents and settings“ folder will be referred as network folders from Windows. If you want to upload files quickly to the PosterJet 7 Server, you should save them on a local drive (e.g. C:, D:, etc.)
