Special settings with PosterJet 7 on a Windows 2003 Server?
If you have questions about how to install PosterJet 7 on a Windows 2003 Server system, please read the following PDF document 046E_W2003_Install.pdf
If using the Windows 2003 Server Version R2 in rare cases it might happen that the queues may freeze and cannot be stopped or started after a longer use of PosterJet. If you should face this issue please contact our support at
Special settings with PosterJet on a Windows Xp X64 (64-bit) system?
If installing PosterJet on a Windows XP X64 (64-bit) system please see the following hints:
1st Please update the "FrontPage Server Extensions" (This is only necessary if the Microsoft IIS is used for the comunication between PJ-client and PJ-server). To do this please follow this link to Microsoft. Please also have a look on the further notes on this page as a few other settings have to be changed.
2nd Usually the PJ-client would try to reach the PJ-server under this address: http://localhost/PJServer/PJServer.asmx In some cases it might happen that the strong security settings of this Windows version will block the communication between PJ-client and PJ-server. In this case change the entry "localhost" to the IP-address of the computer. Alternatively you can use the DNS-name or the so called "Loopback"-address (127.0.0.1).
If you should face any other discrepancies please contact our support at:
Can PosterJet control two printers simultaneously and from one computer only (Mac or PC)?
Each PosterJet server can control only one printer. To simultaneously control two printers, you need two separate PosterJet licenses or the PosterJet 7 Corporate Business Edition (this includes two PosterJet 7 servers). These two PosterJet Servers must be installed on two seperate PCs, but can be controlled form one PC by changing the connection of the PosterJet Client from one server to the other one.
Is there a difference between the license for Windows and for Macintosh?
With reference to license use and dongle management, no.
On how many computers in a network can PosterJet be installed?
This is dependent on the licenses purchased. Each PosterJet 7 license includes one server and five clients. The server may only be installed once, and requires the copy protection dongle. The clients can be installed on as many computers in the network as desired, but the PosterJet server only permits simultaneous operation by the number of clients licensed with the PosterJet 7 server. This is normally five clients. Additional client licenses, however, can be purchased and flawlessly integrated into the system.
On which operating systems can I run PosterJet V7?
PosterJet V7 supports Windows 2000/XP as well as Windows 2000/2003 Server.
With the release of version 7.5 (15.12.2005) there is a MAC OSX (10.4) client available in the
Demo Version Mac Client area.
There will be a complete MAC OSX version available soon. Windows 95/98/NT and MAC OS
9 are no longer supported.
Can I print from a Macintosh OSX machine to PosterJet V7 installed on Windows?
Yes, you can send print jobs via the PosterJet PPD (Postscript Printer
Description, a virtual printer driver) out of the application on the
OSX system into PosterJet running on Windows. Please see also this support document: 021E_PPD_from_OSX_to_Windows_PosterJet_server.pdf
With release of PosterJet version 7.5 (16th of Dec.2005) there is an
OSX client available which can be downloaded here: Demo Version Mac Client This OSX client has to be connected with a PosterJet 7.5 server running on Windows. Please see also this support document: 039E_Installing_and_connecting_MacClient.pdf
Do I need a dongle driver for PosterJet with Windows?

Problems while printing out of an OSX application to PosterJet running on Windows?

Inside this go to "Add/Remove Windows Components" and open "Other Network File and Print Services" and install the "Print Services for Unix".
